Fizz is a fun math game similar to Buzz! that requires counting, concentration, and calculation. Players need to know their multiples of five in order to get the full benefit of the game. Kids that are not as strong in math may struggle with this game.
Players sit in a circle facing each other. A player is chosen to start the counting sequence. Another player is chosen to be the scorekeeper.
The chosen player starts by saying the number "one". The player to their right goes next by saying "two". Play continues counter clockwise in order until a player calls out any number that contains a 5 or is a multiple of 5. When this happens the player replaces the number with the word "Fizz!".
Play would be like this "one", "two", "three", "four", "Fizz!", "six", "seven", "eight", "nine", "Fizz!", "eleven", "twelve", and so on. The next number replaced with Fizz! would be 15 then 20, 25, 30, and 35. Any number that is a multiple of 5 and contains a five like 15 or 25 is replaced with "Fizz-Fizz!". Play continues to the number 100.
When the 50's are reached every number is replaced with "Fizz!". With a room full of kids this can get quite interesting.
Play continues as quickly as possible. If a player misses a Fizz or uses one at the wrong time they are given a penalty point and play starts over with the number one.
When the count reaches 100 the player with the least amount of penalty points is the winner.
